Baguio is the Philippines’ summer capital: pine trees, cool air, strawberries and ube jam. It’s also a favorite road trip for fur parents, and more hotels, cabins and homestays now welcome dogs. Rules vary a lot, though. Some places charge nothing, some ask for a deposit, and some only take small dogs or keep pets in certain rooms.
We checked the pet policy of each stay below in October 2026, using the hotels’ official Facebook pages, booking listings, travel guides and guest reviews. Here’s where you can stay with your fur baby in Baguio, what it costs, and what to pack.

Where to walk your dog in Baguio: Burnham Park
Burnham Park, the big lake park in the middle of the city, is the easiest place to stretch your dog’s legs between meals and pasalubong runs. Recent visitor guides say dogs are welcome as long as they’re leashed and well-behaved, and the park now has its own dog area.
- Happy Paws Pet Park: a dog park inside Burnham Park along Jose Abad Santos Drive, beside the Tourist Information Office. It opened in May 2024 and has an off-leash zone, agility equipment and a water station.
- Leash at all times outside the off-leash zone. Baguio’s responsible pet ownership ordinance requires pets to be leashed and under control in public places.
- Bring poop bags and pick up after your dog. The same ordinance requires it.
- Follow the posted signs. Some owners of medium and large dogs have reported being turned away from city parks in the past, so check the signs or ask park staff when you arrive.
- Go early. Weekends and holidays get very crowded around the lake, which can stress out smaller or nervous dogs.
Tips for bringing your dog to Baguio
- Pack for the cold. Baguio nights get chilly, especially from December to February. Bring a blanket, and a sweater for short-haired or small breeds.
- Plan for a long drive. The trip up from Metro Manila takes several hours, and the last stretch is winding mountain road. Plan potty breaks, bring water, and ask your vet about motion sickness if your dog gets carsick.
- Book the pet room early. Pet rooms fill up fast on long weekends, the holidays and during Panagbenga in February.
- Get it in writing. Rules at transient houses and homestays can change, so confirm the pet fee and house rules by message before you go.
- Bring the vaccination card. Some hotels ask for proof of up-to-date vaccines at check-in.
- Pack diapers or belly bands. Many hotels require them in lobbies and other shared areas.
- Expect a deposit. Several places hold a refundable deposit on top of the pet fee.
